April + May Birchbox Review!

Hello good people who still visit my blog! I am so grateful for you reading this first off. Second item of business; my April and May Beauty boxes and review of the items and Birchbox services. This is the April birchbox -
As you can see on the front of the package, the design is by Rifle Paper Co. and I really loved this pretty floral for spring! Diving in, this is what it looks like when you open it up.
There's a little message about that month and the people who designed the box, then if you turn over that little postcard type paper, it shows this-

And it lists off all the products included in that months box and why they love them, how to use the products, and how much they cost if you want to buy the full size.

Onto the first couple products, there is Harvey Prince hello body butter and LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil.

I tried the hello body butter and oh man, not only does this smell incredible, (lemony but not over powering), but it also is very light and leaves your skin feeling very fresh and rejuvenated. I really love this product and would recommend it if you are wanting a nicer body butter that isn't too thick ($20).
Next is the Lip Lube which is in a medium pink color. I really like the way this pencil goes on and the amount of shine it gives. Usually I don't like my lips to be overly shiny or slick but this is just the perfect balance and the color looks exquisite on. It also lasts quite long. I both love and loathe the minty fresh scent because it is refreshing, but I am also not a big fan of tasting minty-ness on my lips all day. I guess it depends on your preference but I would definetely buy more of this product if it came down to it.

Starting with the Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, I have only used this a couple times and it made my hair feel really nice and clean, however to do what it says it does (repair damaged hair and strengthen/rebuild) I would need to use it more consistently. I do like what I see but I need more time.
Last in this box is the Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream- Blueberry. Oh my goodness does this smell AMAZING. More than that, I don't think my legs have ever felt this nice after shaving for as long as I can remember. The only downside is that this is also pricey at $20 for only around 5 ounces of product, but at the same time only a little bit of this product goes a very long way. Plus it comes in not only blueberry but almond, lavender, coconut, pomegranate, and acai grapefruit scents. If you're looking for a similar product for cheaper I would recommen EOS shaving creams, they also leave your skin feeling great and silky smooth!

Onto May's Birchbox!

This is the front of the box, the design in partnership with cupcakes and cashmere. There also was a recipe on a card that said you could receive the free cupcakes and cashmere at home book if you spent over $55 online at Birchbox. There is the list of products and their prices as well.
The first product is Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect that is supposed to be a leave in conditioner and something you spray on before you comb through your hair. Now, since I have curly hair for days, I typically don't comb my hair, especially when it's drying, but I did spray some on my hair and let it air dry and it left it feeling very soft. Do I think it is worth $32 for the full size however? Probably not. You could easily find another product for cheaper that also left your hair feeling soft. If you really need something to protect your hair, this may be your product (I am just not quite sure how well of a job this does).
The second sample is Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream. It says on the little paper it came with that this is Japan's Soft Skin Secret and even though every product on this planet claims something like that, I kinda believe this one. I put it on one side of my skin so I could compare to my normal skin and it really did leave it feeling soft and luxurious. It is also a pretty reasonable price, only $16 for 1.5 oz which sounds like a lot but moisturizer lasts a long time and the one I currently use was around $50 for 1 oz that I got from my dermatologist so, you do the math. Only downside to this one is that the smell is a real turnoff, it reminds me of wart medicine or something harsh like that, but the benefits far exceed the turnoff of the smell because it doesn't necessarily linger on your skin after it's on anyway.

This Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream SPF 45+ is so so so nice and blends in well with your skin. My face immediately looked more luminous and healthy and covered red and blotchy spots well. I saw this in Sephora and almost bought it already, but I figured I may as well use up the sample first.
The Coastal Scents Revealed 3 Eyeshadow Quad went on my eyes well and were vibrant shades. However, I pretty much already have the top two colors in the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. Actually, the gold in the Too Faced is better along with the matte brown color, but the dark pink in this palette was really amazing looking on, it reminded me of a shade you would see on the runway as a bold eye.
This Marcelle Clay Mask is the last item in the May Birchbox. I don't typically use clay masks, but this one really surprised me. I like that it is mostly natural ingredients so I'm not putting anything harsh on my face, plus it did what it said it would for the most part. I have used it only once (since I just received the box today), but it seemed to clarify and brighten my skin after I rinsed off the mask. For $15 for the full size, I would recommend this product if you are looking for a good mask to use a few times a week in your beauty routine.

So there you have it, we finally got through my April + May Birchbox Reviews! I only have received these two boxes since subscribing to Birchbox but so far I really enjoy the service! Not sure how long I'll keep it since I'm going away to college in the fall, however if you enjoy ungifting and recieving new products to try like I do, you would like this service. It is also rather cheap for what you get. Another thing is that you can build up loyalty points when you purchase full size items through their website.  If you liked this post please give it a + or comment! Below I will provide links to every product you see in this post :) Have a great week lovelies!

The Ultimate Gift Guide

Hello readers! With Christmas fast approaching (I don't know how time passed so quickly) I thought I'd throw together a post about things to get your friends and family if you don't already know. This also can, of course, apply to birthdays or other holidays. I divided it into a few different categories below so take a look and I hope you find this helpful, most have links you can click on, I chose to use amazon for most links possible to keep it cohesive. (I may update every once and awhile with new ideas, so check back!)

  • Man Repeller by Leandra Medine- really hilarious and fun/easy read written by one of the most important bloggers of this century
  • #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso (duh)- this, no joke, taught me a lot about life and suceeding in the workplace + so much more, it is a must read
  • Birchbox- this is cool because you can either do a one time box or a subscription and they send you name brand, awesome quality products every month to try out!
  • Teenvogue Handbook

  • (Book) 501 Must See Movies
  • "Movie Night" gift set- put together a basket (possibly substitute for a popcorn bowl) filled with all the goodies you would need for a movie night in; candy, popcorn, bowl, cup(?), and of course a movie
  • Box Set of tv series or movies (for ex. all of the austin powers or scream movies)
  • Central Perk Coffee mug
  • The Office Sign to hang on wall
  • Visit here for more cool tv show merchandise

(moms love this stuff)

  • Go paint a cute jar/plate/box/etc- go to your local pottery shop and paint a jar or a cute plate!
  • Hot Chocolate or cookies in a jar- you know how you see those cute, but expensive, hot chocolate in a mason jar things where it has all the ingredients to make something layered and then the instructions on top of the jar? just make it yourself and save the money + be cuter
  • Sugar Scrub or soaps in a jarlink to 21 different recipes
  • Decorate a picture frame
  • Personalized Calendar- or if you're short on time/very creative/want to save money, you can just make your own which would be cute

  • ButterToki store (on etsy)- for if you don't have the time or interest in making your own scrubs/lotions/body butters/etc.
  • Lush Cosmetics- bath bombs especially because they're a cheaper option from that store and they're absolutely amazing *insert heart emoji*
  • Naked Palettes (by Urban Decay)- you can get these (there's 3, although a little pricey) from Ulta, Sephora, and many other retailers! You could also save some money and virtually get any palette, E.L.F. has some good ones for waay cheaper!!
  • "Spa Day" package- basically just put a bunch of stuff into a cute basket that you would use to pamper yourself with; face masks, body butter, perfume, bubble bath, nail polish, lip balms, scrubs, etc.
  • Nail Polish Sets- they have these at a lot of different places, or you could put together your own as well (surprise, surprise) usually they come with mini nailpolishes, like the one from E.L.F. (sold at Target, Urban Outfitters, etc.) that came with 10 different polishes for $10 and just recently was clearanced out I noticed at Target (or at the least the one by my house)

  • 14,000 Things to Be Happy About- also at Urban, Barnes and Noble, etc.
  • Food Network Scented Candles- also seen sold at Kohl's
  • Coffee/Tea- if you know someone who loves coffee or tea, you can't go wrong with this! Get them some nicer teas and coffee beans or even get them a kettle, mug, tea cup set to go with
  • Lotion- pretty broad, but if you don't exactly know the person well or have absolutely no idea what to get them you can't go wrong with some nicely scented lotion
  • Weird/Cute Socks- another thing you can't go wrong with, everyone loves weird and cute socks, and here this brand has some cool ones, especially the mona lisa and starry night ones
  • Yes Please by Amy Poehler- this is just a hilarious book I recommend everyone read, but if they're into comedians you could also get Tina Fey's Bossypants or Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?
  • Ed Sheeran- A Visual Journey- as a lot of people know, Ed has a very interesting mind and creative process so, although I've have yet to read it, this book seems like it would be very cool and the illustrations are done by a childhood friend!
  • Art Supplies for creatives- prismacolor brand colored pencils, nice sketchpads, or anything cool you find at an art store you think they would like
  • Books to write in- like wreck this journal, 642 things to write about, etc. books like these are really cool for people who love to write or just in general and for even more books like these visit urban outfitters because they literally have the coolest collection of books for writing, fashion, blogging, music, cooking, diy, traveling, and much more + right now there's 30% off many of the books!
  • astrology books- again, there are many of these at urban
  • Band/Artist Merch- for friends you know love a band or artist, get them merchandise from their online store for them! This could be a shirt, sweatshirt, booklet, anything really that you think they would love to have
  • Reusable K-Cup- really cool for anyone you know that has a Keurig and uses it often because these are reusable and you can fill them with any coffee of your choice! (which is also probably cheaper because sets of K-cups can be pricey)

Lipstick Collection

Hello all! I am back this week with a post with my lipstick collection which isn't like an insane amount or anything but still. So to start with, this is where I pretty much keep all of my lipstick unless I've forgotten it in a bag or elsewhere (which happens quite often).

Mac All Fired Up- love the boldness and intensity of this color, however
i'm not impressed with Mac's matte because it is way too dry and makes
you feel as if your lips are crusty (lipstick is half melted oops)

Mac Shanghai Spice- really love this color and the lipstick is a cremesheen which I
am also pleased with because it gives you a lot of moisture
L'oreal Colour Riche Balm "Caramel Comfort"- isn't too intense just gives a lil
color but it's so smooth and feels like balm (hints the name)
Ulta Lip Crayon in "Vintage"- really don't like this one, the color comes off s off as
this brown/purple metallic color which just really doesn't look good on me

Beauty Rush (VS) in "Mango Madness"- shimmery and sweet smelling, plus stays on for
a long time, I really like this although I don't wear lip gloss that often
L'oreal Colour Riche in "British Red" (305)- this was my mom's that she gave me so it's pretty
old I don't even know if they still have this color but it's really bright and a very nice red
Ulta Lipcolor in "Iced Cappuccino"- this is a lipstick I got in some big pack of various ulta
goods and it's not a terrible color but I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Ulta brand lipstick

Maybelline "Electric Orange" (880)- really love this color, I feel it would look even more
amazing on people with darker skin tones
Maybelline "Magnificent Mauve" (430)- I expected this to be a more poppy purple color, but it's not
so if you're wanting a cheap light purple color you may check this one out
Maybelline "Totally Toffee" (215)

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in "Creamsicle" (065)- I am just about to throw away this lipstick honestly
because it's a terrible color that has no coverage at all and the consistency of this lipstick is kind of gross
I wouldn't recommend at all
NYX "Chaos"- just got this today so I tried it on but haven't had the chance to really
wear it yet however I can say this may be my new favorite red it's so pretty and stunning

NYX Matte "Pale Pink"- not really as impressed with this color it doesn't have great coverage
and the color is too bubblegum pink for my liking
NYX Matte "Merlot"- one of my favorite lipsticks I own, color and texture/coverage wise,
it stays on well, and isn't so matte that your lips feel crusty, plus the color is a deep and rich

NYC "Snowcone" (411)- another one I would not recommend because it does not go one
or stay on well and is also too much of like a stripperish color for me
Elf Lip Exfoliator- another product I just got today but it realllly helps my lips a lot
especially since during the winter they get very chapped so between this which is good
for on the go and a lip scrub you can keep your lips as chapped free this winter as possible!

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub- loooove this product so much and this flavor is also my favorite
Lush Santa's Lip Scrub- this is cola flavored and although it's a lip scrub it doesn't seem to have the same
consistency as the regular ones and i'm not big on the flavor either

Lush Santa Baby Lip Tint- got this for christmas last year along with the santa lip scrub, but haven't
really used it because I'm not big on lip tints
Nivea Lip Balm- my favorite along with EOS lip balm, these are (from left to right) Olive oil
and lemon, mint and minerals, and milk & honey, I also had the regular but I used it all up, I
love how smooth they go on and how smooth they also make your lips feel

So there you have it! My lipstick collection (with some other lip products thrown in there too because why not). Sorry if the pictures don't best capture the colors, I kept meaning to do this when it was lighter outside but then all the sudden it was 4:30 and getting dark out?? So hopefully they're still alright and my input and advice has granted you new knowledge on your decision making journey in finding the perfect lip care and wear.
